Why we are addicted

Standard

It really doesn’t take us very long to get addicted to something. It happens, especially when we don’t want to face the difficulties in our life.
The addiction could be drug, sex, exercise and, yes, work!
A very close friend of mine had retired two years ago. As you know, sixty is a number now; moreover, he was workaholic; so he somehow managed the first year without ‘working’. It had been painful and so that he started a studio with a much younger boy who gave him the required space. It was mutually agreed that the boy couldn’t give any time for the studio; it was because the boy had already been into a job for some time and he had to continue that job to run his family. So my friend took the entire responsibility to run the studio alone.

Why we are not happy

Standard

Have you ever been tormented by the feelings of insecurity?

I have.

Much later I came to know that the feelings of insecurity were actually a chimera. At no point, the life is secured. At no point, you know what is going to happen in the next few seconds.
Why?
Because my life is not in my hands. We cannot control how long it’ll stay with us. Nobody else can control its expiry date. It’s not a simple product manufactured in a factory where you can predict the expiry date. It’s neither a license that can be renewed on expiry.
Still, we feel insecure. How funny is it!
Happiness bears a relationship to the feelings of insecurity and happiness changes its position in the relationship to the feelings of insecurity. Happiness is expected to increase if the feelings of insecurity gradually decrease.
Feelings of insecurity are the root-causes of all types of anxiety. Depression. And, finally, unhappiness. Clinical reasons may aggravate it and for that, you need to consult your doctor; but in most cases, we can take care of it primarily just by changing our lifestyle.
The first step is – talk to yourself and try to know what torments you the most. If you dig deep, you will reach the atomic level where lies your feelings of insecurity.
Just forget about it.
You are alive; just enjoy each moment and try to make it better through sheer hard work.

How to write a true, meaningful sentence

Standard

I’m trying to put together few very important things (VIT) about story-writing. Although I’m mainly concerned about story-writing, these simple rules may also be applied to any writing in English.
Before I start I should express my gratitude to one book – The Elements of Style, written by William Strunk Jr., in 1918. You may download the original copy of the book from this link: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/37134
This article may be regarded as an extension of that book.

1) Control

It starts with control and ends with control.
You must learn to control everything in life. We love our freedom, but, we can’t harm anybody. Right? Think every word as an animate being. Treat them as your friends; not your slaves. The process is: one word, one sentence, one paragraph and finally one story. It starts with ‘one word’. So, be careful while you choose your words. You are free to select any word; it’s your freedom; but, if you opt for a wrong word you actually hurt it.

BEFORE LIFE AND AFTER DEATH

Standard

Philosophers, thinkers, and writers always have tried to explain this life.
Some of them searched the meaning and emphasized the importance of beingness and nothingness, at the same time.
Shakespeare asked, to be or not to be. Albert Camus believed self-destruction was one of the main crises in our life. Jean-Paul Sartre stressed on nothingness and said; one “beingness” invites many “nothingness”. When someone says “yes”, there are many “nos” in the background.

Do you love your spouse?

Standard

I know that the question is critical and too personal.
I’ve not written it in the form of a question, in order to get any information from you. What I’ve wanted to do is very simple. I want to hold an inquiry into the ‘affair’.
The word ‘love’ is an amazing affair. I hope you’d agree. It becomes a world affair when a country does not love another country. A war may break out. When a husband does not love his wife or vice-versa, it becomes a family affair. It can change your life. It can destroy your life.

We, all, have dreams…

Standard

You, everybody and I have some dreams; after that, what happens to us?
Most of us get frustrated when things do not meet their ends.
Dreaming is not wrong. Dreaming big is, in fact, very good. It proves that you have an imagination that others usually do not have. However, to fulfill that dream, what we do?

Do not hesitate to compare James Hadley Chase with James Joyce

Standard

I know what you think.
You think that there is another lunatic who wants to tell something that is close to madness. I am not mad, and it is not wrong to assume that I might have lost my mind. The headline is simply overwhelming.
Why is it overwhelming? It is because our society has decided it already. What is the decision? The ubiquitous decision is, James Joyce should be placed in the hierarchy. We have created a society that always believes in comparison and hierarchy.
